How to clean a kitchen hood grille?

It is impossible to cook food and still keep the kitchen perfectly clean. It goes without saying that the hob and oven are the first to take the brunt of the damage, but many people don’t know or notice that the cooker hood also gets dirty quickly. In the hood, the main blow falls on the grease filter, which has a fine structured base, which makes the cleaning process much more difficult. So, today we will talk about how to clean the grate of the hood.

How often should you clean your hood and why should you do it?

A range hood is one of those devices that makes our life as easy as possible, and makes the process of cooking and subsequent cleaning as fast and comfortable as possible. Its purpose is to capture steam, soot, smoke and unpleasant odors that accompany any cooking. If the humidity in the house is high, the use of a hood will be completely necessary.

The more regularly you use the hood, the faster it will become dirty; this primarily concerns the metal grease filter. It becomes covered with particles of fat, which reduces the performance of the hood, and as a result, the quality of its work. Ultimately, by ignoring regular filter cleaning, grease particles can even get into the engine and damage it.

Methods for cleaning a hood

Traditional methods

  • If you regularly maintain the hood, it will be enough to use available means to remove dirt and it will take a minimum of time. We are sure that in every home there is either vinegar, soda or laundry soap.
  • Acetic acid. You can either soak the grate in the solution or scrub the grate with the solution using a sponge. In addition, gently scrub off the grease deposits with a soft brush, rinse with water, and finally dry.
  • Laundry soap. Grate it, pour the resulting shavings into a large bowl of warm water (water at a temperature of about 60°C). Soak the filter in soapy water for at least half an hour. If dirt begins to flake off, carefully go over the grate with a scraper or brush.
  • Lemon juice. Rub the surface of the grease filter with a slice of lemon to ensure that a sufficient amount of juice reaches the grate. Instead of lemon, you can use citric acid. To do this, you need to dissolve 3 tablespoons citric acid in 1 liter of warm water, immerse the grate in this solution and leave to sour for 15-30 minutes.
  • Hot solution. You will need a glass of baking soda, laundry soap, a tablespoon of table salt and 5 liters of water. Boil water in a larger container on the stove. Next, add the previously specified components one by one. Lower the mesh into the solution and cook it over low heat until contamination begins. Finally, gently wipe with a sponge or brush. Cool the filter in advance to avoid burns.

Use of specialized household chemicals

Homemade recipes are, not to say, convenient, although all the ingredients are often on hand. And questions may arise about the quality of cleaning itself, especially if the filter has accumulated a lot of grease.

That is why there are specialized household chemicals, the use of which does not require any boiling or mixing of “potions”. Chemistry is often much better at removing contaminants by breaking down its very structure. But we strongly recommend using only proven household chemicals from well-known manufacturers. Often, these funds are not included in the budget price category. It should be understood that the use of funds of such a plan should be as careful as possible. Firstly, you need to choose the right product based on the design features (material of manufacture, etc.), and secondly, strictly follow the instructions, because you can harm the skin of your hands.

To ensure that nothing happens and the result is great, it is best to delegate the task to us. We will handle it wonderfully and save your time and money.
