HOW TO GET RID OF MOLD ON THE WINDOW?

You always want to have order in your home, and everywhere. The question is whether you want to clean it. However, if you don’t clean regularly, mold can appear. Therefore, TivaCleaners will tell you how to remove mold from windows at home.

It’s disgusting to even think about mold. Green fungus sounds disgusting, doesn’t it? Imagine if you come to the window every day and see the whole window frame covered in blackness.

Let’s not forget how fatal this is for your health. Not only are these bacteria, but they also pollute the space around them. The air that your children breathe, you, and even the furniture, where bacteria can also penetrate.

But it doesn’t matter! You can remove mold from windows at home, using both purchased methods and folk remedies.

WHY DOES MOLD APPEAR?

Before getting rid of mold on a window, you need to find out the obvious reasons why it appears there. The main reasons are as follows:

  • high humidity;
  • leaking pipes;
  • insufficient air flow in the room;
  • irregular cleaning.

Let’s talk about each of them in detail. For example, high humidity can be caused by poor-quality protective rubber. And because of this, air can penetrate the cracks, steaming there, which causes humidity.

Leaking pipes can also affect the condition of the window, as batteries or pipes are usually located under the windows. Again, this causes increased humidity and thus bacteria spread even faster.

Insufficient airflow is another reason why bacteria grow. If you ventilate too little or not at all, even more contaminants will appear.

And the last thing is, of course, an insufficient amount of disinfection, i.e. liquid cleaning. To prevent this, windows and their frames should be cleaned of mold REGULARLY (even if there is no mold). If this is not done, the bacteria will soon come out, and then it will be unpleasant.

HOW TO GET RID OF MOLD ON WINDOWS AT HOME?

Let’s slowly figure out what and how to treat areas covered with mold. There’s really nothing complicated, because bacteria is not a death sentence. We only need a few attributes to remove the bacteria.

We will need:

  • a toothbrush;
  • cotton swabs and pads;
  • the chosen cleaning agent;
  • a cloth.

This is more than enough to remove mold on the windows. By the way, a toothbrush is much better at fighting bacteria than ordinary dishwashing sponges. Therefore, it is better to prepare an unnecessary, old toothbrush.

HOW TO GET RID OF MOLD ON WINDOWS WITH FOLK REMEDIES?

Do you think there are more folk remedies or purchased ones? And what do you think works better, purchased or home remedies? Let’s just say that home remedies are often more effective in fighting fungus.

Soda, vinegar, salt or alcohol are still used by our grandmothers. It’s cheaper than purchased methods, and it’s more convenient because you have everything you need at hand. So let’s figure out how to remove mold from windows at home.

Soda

A fairly common method for cleaning windows from black fungus. Baking soda costs a pretty penny, but it works much better than purchased products. Follow these steps to clean the desired surface:

  • Prepare a paste from 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of warm water.
  • Mix the product thoroughly and put it on the desired surface.
  • Try rubbing the product in and leave it on for 10 minutes.
  • Then use a toothbrush to clean off the fungus completely.
  • Finally, use a wet cloth to remove any residue and wipe dry.

If the mold is not completely removed, repeat the procedure until the desired result is achieved.

Vinegar and baking soda

The next, also quite effective method is vinegar and baking soda. Separately, they also work well, so you can try to remove mold with vinegar alone to start with. However, it is recommended to use this active mixture:

  • Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with enough vinegar to make a thick paste.
  • Apply the mixture to the fungus and leave it on for 20-40 minutes.
  • After that, scrub off the residue with a toothbrush and warm water.
  • Wipe dry.

This method should be kept for a little longer to maximize the effectiveness. So feel free to try it on your windows. And remember, if the fungus is removed, but not completely, repeat the procedure until you achieve the maximum result.

Citric acid

It is also a household favorite that will always come to the rescue. Whether it’s a fungus or a clogged bathroom. It is used in the same way as soda. They are even similar in consistency, but citric acid has different particles (coarser).

Simply mix 1 packet of citric acid with 1-2 tablespoons of water and apply the resulting paste to the plastic part where the fungus has appeared. Wait about 30 minutes and that’s it, the fungus is gone!

Peroxide or alcohol

This combination works great on blackness on plastic windows, so go ahead and try it!

How to clean mold with peroxide or alcohol: Prepare a cotton ball, alcohol or peroxide and mix it with water in a 1:1 ratio. Pump the resulting liquid into a cotton pad and then wipe the contaminated area. Repeat the procedure until the maximum effect is achieved.

When it comes to the percentage of alcohol, it does not matter. However, it is better to take ethyl alcohol, i.e. 70%, as it is suitable for plastic windows.

Soap, vinegar and baking soda

Sounds very unusual, doesn’t it? You might wonder how these products are compatible with each other. But they are very compatible. Compatible enough to remove mold in half an hour:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of soap or dishwashing liquid with 3 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
  • Apply the mixture to the mold and leave it on for 15-30 minutes.
  • Then, go over thoroughly with a brush to remove the residue and a cotton pad with water.

The method should work the first time, but if it doesn’t, repeat the procedure until you get the best result.

Washing powder and vinegar

And the last, also effective combination is powder and vinegar. All you need to do is mix 2 tablespoons of powder with 2 tablespoons of vinegar (you should get a paste). After that, apply the product and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then brush it off and wipe dry.

There is absolutely nothing complicated, it’s simple and fast!

HOW TO GET RID OF BLACK FUNGUS ON SLOPES

Sometimes bacteria appear even on window slopes, so let’s figure out how to clean mold on window slopes:

  • Toothpaste: One of the most effective remedies in the fight against fungus. You need to apply the paste to wet slopes (moisten with a cotton pad) and try to wipe off the mold. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse again with warm water.
  • Fungus remover: A basic and effective remedy, especially since you don’t need to do anything. Just buy the cheapest one in the store. Follow the instructions and implement the cleaning.
  • Chlorine: Acts in the same way as domestos. Therefore, you can replace it with each other. Leave it on for 5-15 minutes and then rinse it off with water.

Remember that when working with chemicals, it is imperative to ventilate the room. Therefore, immediately after applying one of the methods, you need to ventilate the room well. And remember that you should also wear rubber gloves when working with chemicals.

HOW TO REMOVE OLD BLACK MOLD FROM WINDOWS?

There are also cases when standard methods do not help, because the fungus is so ingrained in the surface that removing it is torture. It is for such cases that there are the most aggressive methods that can be used to remove mold from windows at home.

We’re talking about ammonia. Aggressive, but effective. With its help, you can really forget about the fungus on plastic windows for a long time. However, you need to be very careful when working with ammonia, namely:

  • wear rubber gloves;
  • leave the window open;
  • remove unnecessary objects from the window sill;
  • protect bright places around.

Gloves are a must so you don’t do anything to your hands. And you should also ventilate every 1-2 minutes so that the smell does not get into the apartment or house.

Mix ammonia with water in a 1:3 ratio (1 part ammonia to 3 parts water). Apply this liquid to the mold with a cotton pad and wipe it well. At the end, be sure to rinse with warm water and wipe dry. Ventilate the room several times and you’re done.

Try to make sure that the room is empty (no small children or animals) when you clean it. Ammonia is not so dangerous, but it is better to be wary of its effects.
